I am the frost

I am the frost

That kills the bud

As petals drop

And return to dirt

I am the blade

On the edge of the wind

That cuts your cheeks

And cracks your hands

I am the pallor,

The hoary veil

Subduing the blue

And sunny skies

I am the cloak

Of Nessus in winter

That cannot be shaken

Or shivered away

I am the wake

Of light itself

Demanding witness

From eye and mind

I am the blue

That sinks like dye

And freezes and colors

Your pools of reflection

I am bitterness,

And coldness,

And am ever longing

To come inside
